Some of the bathhouses, known as "hammams" in Persian, are centuries old. But business has declined as modern conveniences now allow showers and baths in most homes across the Islamic Republic. The few that remain, mostly in old neighborhoods, largely draw day laborers and travelers. Lampley and his two traveling companions are all charged with multiple murders with special circumstances that include lying in wait for their victims, making them eligible for the death penalty. Lampley, Sean Michael Angold, 24, and Lila Scott Alligood, 18, are scheduled to make their first court appearances Wednesday. A criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Marin County Superior Court charges Morrison Haze Lampley, 23, with pulling the trigger of a stolen Smith & Wesson handgun in both killings while the trio robbed their alleged victims. Sajjadi suggests the government could turn the bathhouses into tourist attractions by offering low-interest loans to owners to renovate their aging interiors. But so far, there's been no move to do that as the economic pressure grows. Here are a series of images by Associated Press photographer Ebrahim Noroozi from inside some of Iran's remaining bathhouses. ___ Follow AP photographers and photo editors on Twitter: website A hiker found Carter's body on Monday. The website convenor, who did not wish to be named, said the women's statements would not affect the police investigation. NEW YORK (AP) - Near the end of the first half of Thursday's 25th Anniversary Rain Forest benefit concert at Carnegie Hall, chairwoman Trudie Styler introduced a man who recently learned he was going to be a grandfather, and out came former President Bill Clinton. After Clinton praised the Rain Forest Foundation, he thanked Sting, Styler and others for their efforts for the organization. Then he acknowledged Kevin Spacey. 1 from an unlocked car in San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood. Carter's dog is expected to survive. All three are also charged with animal cruelty, though the criminal complaint alleged that Lampley pulled the trigger. Marin County Sheriff's Lt. Doug Pittman said the three suspects have "no fixed address." They were arrested outside a Portland, Oregon soup kitchen on Wednesday. Investigators and the criminal complaint say they were found in possession of the stolen gun, Carter's Volkswagen station wagon and Carey's tent, sleeping bag, day pack and other possessions, including her passport and airline tickets. The show opened with Sting and Spacey sitting at a bar performing a duet of Cole Porter's "Well Did You Evah (What a Swell Party This Is)," backed by a huge orchestra. They eventually were joined by James Taylor, who entered the stage wearing a lampshade on his head. The criminal complaint further charges the triggerman with being a felon in possession of a gun. The criminal complaint states that Lampley was convicted in July of receiving a stolen car in San Diego. ___ This story has been corrected to show the name of a suspect is Sean Michael Angold, not Michael Angold. Carter said that he knew of no one who disliked his brother. "I can't imagine that it's anything other than a random thing. All of it seems very random and unbelievable. Nothing makes any sense." Carter and his wife, Lokita Carter, founded the Ecstatic Living Institute, based in Middletown. He was a Tantra teacher and participated in numerous training sessions across the country and in Canada and Costa Rica. The couple released DVDs on Tantric massage, yoga for lovers and meditation. They also taught classes at Harbin Hot Springs, a clothing-optional retreat in the Middletown mountains that burned down last month in Lake County's devastating wildfire, the Chronicle reported. "Towards the end of the second set it started to tighten up. When he took a medical timeout, it cooled down a little bit." Now, bathhouse owners like Gholam Ali Amirian, 70, who has spent four decades working in a hammam that is some 850 years old, fear the institution will dissipate like the steam from its heated pool. (AP) - A tantra teacher who made DVDs on yoga for lovers and taught classes at a clothing-optional retreat was found shot to death on a hiking trail in Northern California, still holding onto the leash of his wounded dog, authorities said. Police say the Shiva School of Meditation and Yoga in Mount Eliza is under investigation, following complaints of indecent acts against several women. Their investigation comes after the school revealed late last year that accusations had been made against the ashram founder and director Swami Shankarananda, 72, also known as Russell Kruckman. Swami Shankarananda later issued a statement apologising for the disastrous effect of his former "tantric sexual activities" on some followers, and said he had stopped his behaviour. A hiker found Carter's body Monday evening along a scenic trail about 20 miles north of San Francisco, the Marin County Sheriff's Department said. His Doberman pinscher also was shot, but it survived and was turned over to an animal welfare group, Lt. Doug Pittman said. Murray, he said, was "like a poker player who has been bluffed". But Murray was then able to play his own joker and decided his own ailing body needed some work and the trainer returned to vigorously massage the Briton's right shoulder. The effect of that intervention was equally immediate. Murray won the next six games to see out the clash, walloping down an ace on matchpoint as if to highlight just what a good job had been done on his stiffening joint. "The shoulder is fine now," Murray said, having teed up a last-16 encounter with the huge-serving Ivo Karlovic. and in Canada and Costa Rica, the San Francisco Chronicle reported website ). The couple released DVDs on tantric massage, yoga for lovers and meditation. They also taught classes at Harbin Hot Springs, a clothing-optional retreat in the Middletown mountains that burned down in the wildfire, according to the newspaper. Logan Rose, director of the Ecstatic Living Institute, said the Carters recently led retreats for couples in Costa Rica and had come back to California so Lokita Carter could receive breast cancer treatments. But then he quipped to hearty laughs: "Now, damn it, you're in mine." Clinton continued poking fun at Spacey. "I was always accused of getting away with murder, but Spacey actually does it in 15 minutes," Clinton said, referring to a scene in the first episode of the second season. Earlier in the day, Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, announced that she and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, are expecting their first child later this year. As for the benefit concert, the exception often became the rule with performers leaving their comfort zone to entertain the audience. "Swamiji has never claimed to be a sexual renunciant nor demanded celibacy from any of his students, and until now Swamiji has kept aspects of the teaching and his personal activities secret in line with age-old Hindu Tantric scriptures." The committee, which had sought legal advice, said there was no basis for a criminal complaint. Free counselling has been offered to the female students, which Fairfax Media reports number up to 40. Swami Shankarananda, also known as Russell Kruckman, said he recognised the "disastrous effect" of his actions and had stopped his behaviour, which was raised publicly by former members of the residential ashram. After Murray raced through the opening two sets and trailed 2-1 in the third, 25th seed Seppi called for medical assistance to work on a leg injury. What happened next made the on-court physio look like a miracle worker as Seppi took the next five games to claim the third set and break the 2013 champion in the opening game of the fourth. At this point John McEnroe, in his role as a commentator for the BBC and no stranger to the dark arts of gamesmanship, was questioning Seppi's motives. "I don't know how I could have been this stupid, but I was," Swami Shankarananda wrote. "I beg your forgiveness." The ashram's management committee has written to members, saying it was urgently implementing internal processes to address grievances and engaged independent mediator Callum Campbell. "It is well-known that our lineage is a Tantric path, involving worship of the Goddess with strict disciplines," the committee said in its letter.
