The problem I see with waxing your windsheild is that the rubber will scrape towards the wax and at some point accumulate the wax which would lead to the deterioation of the rubber and/or reduce the effectiveness of each wipe.

You are specifically right here. I have about half a dozen reviews that bugs are less difficult to eliminate with Raincoat. (I suspect that you will get much less bug guts sticking too, but I can't demonstrate it). Also, I have lots of reports that their shields stay cleaner from street grime or salt spray.
