Look, I understand you think that the husband in this film was supposed to act like a complete moron but, it will not mean this movie will be slow. All this might be considered a tad too much for young kids to appreciate, but with time, they may likely understand how attractively honest this movie was in trying to depict the underlying issues along with their growth.
