About me

Among the countless rural properties that are listed for sale in Australia every year, vineyards inevitably account for a number of the most exciting. Australia is a famed producer of wine, with countless critics worldwide swooning over its Shiraz and other varietals. The country's vineyards not only turn out a delicious, well respected beverage, they also frequently highlight the natural beauty of the land in unique and inspiring ways.

All of this means that colliers international detroit often attract a great deal of attention. Established, working vineyards do not necessarily come onto the market that often, and a great deal of backed-up, unrequited demand has resulted. Vineyards for sale in Australia, then, often receive quite a bit of interest from prospective buyers from the very moment they are listed.

At leading real estate agency Colliers International, this typically means properties with price tags ranging from around $2 million to $20 million or more. At the very lowest end of the market, properties in the Margaret River and Yarra Valley regions occasionally crop up, although even in those areas, asking prices tend to be a good bit higher.

Contrary to what some suppose, too, most hopeful buyers do emphasize the financial viability of the vineyards they look into. While buying a working vineyard has become something of a rite of passage for the country's financial elites, even these purchasers typically prefer to acquire an operation that has already proven itself in the market.

Fortunately, the overall health of the industry means that this is normally not difficult to do. While some few troubled wineries do trickle onto the market now and then, these failures tend to be more due to mismanagement and poor planning, rather than the quality of the land or wine-making assets. In fact, some especially savvy buyers have made tidy profits in recent years by picking up such properties, quickly turning them around, and flipping them back onto the market with greatly improved numbers to show.

In the more usual case, though, buyers find themselves bidding on wine-making operations that have established themselves over years or even decades of successful production. Issues like water entitlements and the like, of course, remain as important as ever, especially in places like the Yarra Valley where that resource is particularly precious. Even so, finding a healthy, thriving vineyard with a bright future, while it can take some patience, is by no means hard to do in Australia today.
