As Tensions Escalate, Cruz Calls Trump A 'sniveling Coward'

Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says 11 of the 18-man squad announced in March would not make the trip either through injury or because their clubs did not want to release them.
The match at Mt Smart Stadium on May 30 is outside a Fifa-sanctioned window, so clubs are not obliged to make players available.

South Africa are also due to meet World Cup-bound Australia in Sydney four days earlier.
Igesund says he found out about the unavailability of some players only last night and describes the situation as frustrating given that nine of those who have pulled out would have been in his startling line-up.
Among those missing are Crystal Palace striker Kagisho Dikgacoi, defender Siyanda Xulu, who is with Russian club Rostov, and Belgian-based midfielder Andile Jali, who plays for Ostend.

"This shows that the ELN has not understood that this is the time for peace and not for war," President Juan Manuel Santos said.
"If the ELN think that these acts will win them political space or strengthen them in an eventual negotiation, they are completely wrong," he said, adding that he had ordered the military to intensify its efforts against the rebels.

"Everything happened when I was sleeping and I didn't hear anything. Imagine if I woke up and went in what would have happened. I'm still hurt and trying to recover from what happened to Senzo Meyiwa."
Vilakazi was on Tuesday named in the South Africa squad for the African Nations Cup qualifiers home to Sudan (Nov. 15) and away in Nigeria (Nov. 19).

The ELN, founded by radical priests inspired by the Cuban revolution, has been engaged in closed-door talks with the government to draw up terms for a formal peace process. The preliminary negotiations were kept under wraps for months and first revealed in June 2014.

Igesund had to make a second change for Jali, calling up Teko Modise after replacement Sibusiso Vilakazi got injured.
There is also doubt over another late inclusion, striker Kermit Erasmus, who is reported to be already on holiday in the Netherlands.
The squad are delaying their departure from South Africa by a day until Thursday (local time) to secure visas and make other travel arrangements for the added players.

The National Liberation Army, or ELN, attacked the soldiers with explosives and shots in mountainous Guican municipality, in an area belonging to the Uwa indigenous group, Defense Minister Luis Carlos Villegas told reporters.

"At this stage we've not had any request for changes to flights or rooms to suggest there are wholesale changes to their squad," he said.
"As it stands, we are expecting them to turn up with the names we've been sent."
Asked if a substantially under-strength South African line-up would jeopardise the Mt Smart Stadium fixture, de Jong said NZF would cross that hurdle if it arose.

Asked if there would be training on Tuesday, Igesund said he couldn't run a session without players.
The squad are due to fly out the following day and an unnamed squad official said there were more officials and media booked to go than players.
"It's a disaster if something can't be sorted out."
In April, Igesund named a strong-looking 18-man tour party containing most of the players who faced Brazil in March.

BOGOTA, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Colombia's second-largest rebel group, the ELN, killed 12 members of the security forces in the central province of Boyaca on Monday, the government said, as the troops transported votes from the country's regional elections.

South African news agency SAPA reports that the unavailability of players from glamour clubs Kaiser Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in particular would leave Bafana with a mountain to climb.
Igesund expected to be able to give an update on the situation at a media conference in Johannesburg on Tuesday (local time).
"I can't give any details right now," he said.
"We are trying to solve the problem."

The 24-year-old South African Player of the Year, who plays for the BidVest Wits club in Johannesburg, lost only some clothes, while his parents had jewellery and household items stolen.
"I was sleeping in one of the rooms at the back. They asked about my whereabouts and the keys of my car," he was quoted in local media.
"My mom, father and young brother were held hostage by the criminals. They took cash, TV set, music system, wedding rings from my parents and some of my clothing.

The 11 soldiers and one police officer who were killed were transporting votes from Sunday's gubernatorial and mayoral elections.
Three soldiers were injured. Two soldiers, a police patrolman, two election officials and one member of the Uwa tribe remain missing, the defense ministry said in a statement.
The 2,000-strong ELN is smaller than the country's more famous rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, which has been in peace talks with the government for 3 years.
